As a Public Interpreter for the Block Island Southeast Lighthouse Foundation, I developed and led guided tours of the historic lighthouse building and staffed the on-site museum and gift shop.
Demonstrated Skills
  • Heritage interpretation, involving tailoring information to specific audiences and age groups, and narrative development
  • Customer service in the on-site museum and gift shop, selling tours and souvenirs, handling money, and answering questions about the lighthouse and island for members of the public
  • Effective public speaking in both English and Spanish
  • Coordinating with other staff and volunteers to ensure public and facility safety throughout the summer

The Block Island Southeast Lighthouse Foundation maintains the19th-century Southeast Lighthouse on Block Island's Mohegan Bluffs. The light tower is home to a historic first-order Fresnel lens that flashes a distinctive green.
