​Resource Assistants Program

 As the ​Resource Assistants Program (RAP) Liaison, I developed a national diversity internship program in partnership with private and Federal stakeholders. Duties included:
  • Creating resources for 100+ Resource Assistants (RAs) and their Forest Service supervisors, including monthly webinars, newsletters, policy guidance, and professional development opportunities;
  • Developing partnerships with 10 organizations to implement the program, support the RAs, and coordinate with Forest Service employees;
  • Maintaining and utilizing program data for communication with the public and Forest Service leadership;
  • Planning and organizing the first annual RAP Professional Development Event, bringing 100 RAs from all over the country to Washington, D.C. for professional development training

The U.S. Forest Service manages and protects 154 national forests and 20 national grasslands in 43 states and Puerto Rico. The agency's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation's forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations.
​The Resource Assistants Program is a rigorous and immersive paid internship for individuals interested in natural and cultural resource careers. Resource Assistants are engaged through partner organizations but work under the supervision and coaching of Forest Service staff to complete critical agency projects.
